Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join their team based in Watford. This role will play a key role in supporting the overall operations of the businesses biotechnology research facility, with a particular focus on warehouse management and logistics. The successful candidate will have a background in warehousing and logistics, as well as a good understanding of supply chain software and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring efficient and effective performance across all areas.
  • Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of materials and products, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment activities to ensure optimal levels of stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Utilize supply chain software to track and manage inventory movements, monitor order status, and generate reports for analysis and decision-making.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, including procurement, production, and quality control, to ensure seamless integration of operations and timely delivery of products.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse and logistics activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Lead and motivate warehouse staff, providing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the operations function, implementing changes as necessary to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in warehousing and logistics management, preferably within the biotechnology or life sciences industry.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain software and systems, with experience in inventory management and order processing.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in people management, including leading and developing a team of warehouse staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices within a warehouse environment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field would be advantageous.
