18th April, 2024Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Director of Accountancy to join their team based in the West London area.JOB DETAILSPAY RATE: £600 per dayWORK TYPE: TemporaryWORK PATTERN: Full TimeLOCATION: West LondonJOB SUMMARYYou will interpret policy advice, inform and counsel the management teams of service directorates, and represent the interests of the Section 151 Officer and the Finance Service to the Executive Directors and Directors of the Authority. You will also deliver the strategic financial vision and direction to significantly impact the range of services provided by the authority.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe duties and responsibilities of the role will include:Oversee the delivery of business partnership services to clients throughout the Council in order to ensure that the financial components of operational, strategic, business, and service plans uphold good financial governance, encourage best practices, and provide value for the money.Oversee the creation of the Council's regular service side budget monitoring reports, which include all facets of its income, HRA, and DSG operations, and submit them to Corporate Finance.All service side actions that result in the Budget Strategy & MTFS, Budget Update, and other reports should be led, coordinated, and supported.Make that the council has an effective financial management system with all the required safeguards in place.Make decisions about the major responsibilities listed below and/or as instructed by the Chief Financial Officer.THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:Understanding of the laws, accounting principles, and accounting norms of practice that control the finances and accounts of local authoritiesProficiency in strategic management and improvement, along with the capacity to strategically spearhead all facets of service delivery that are relevant to the position, such as formulating service strategy, policy, and objectives and executing improvement plans that are prioritised.Demonstrates a thorough awareness of the opportunities and challenges facing local government today, as well as how strategic finance may help.Please be advised that only candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required for this role will be shortlisted and submitted to our client for review.HOW TO APPLYHit the APPLY button or contact Josh Savage at Tempting Recruitment NOW.
